DemeTECH's Polyglactin 910 is a sterile, synthetic absorbable suture made from copolymers consisting of 90% glycolide and 10% L-lactide. Its chemical formula is represented as (C2H2O2)m(C3H4O2)n. Clinical studies indicate that two weeks post-operation, about 75% of the suture's original strength is retained, and by the fourth week, around 25% of its linear tensile strength remains.
This suture has been shown to be nonantigenic and causes minimal tissue reactivity during absorption. Available in both violet and colorless variants, Polyglactin 910 is coated to produce a smoother suture, enhancing its passage through tissue.
Furthermore, clinical trials have shown that three weeks post-operation, DemeTECH's Polyglactin 910 sutures retain approximately 50% of their tensile strength.
Polyglactin 910 sutures, when implanted, can cause a minor tissue inflammation, a typical reaction to foreign bodies. This initial response is succeeded by the suture's encapsulation by connective tissue. The absorption process of Polyglactin 910 begins through hydrolysis, wherein the polymer breaks down into glycolic acid, which the body subsequently absorbs.
